Unit 5: The Periodic Table

  • How do patterns help us to find out more or predict new things?

The patterns help you to arrange things easier and it organizes, easy to understand. For example, Almost everywhere that need to patterns to keep it organized and easy to learn, such as the time table. It has 4 block and in 2 section and the time is the same to shows that what subject we have to learn on that time. Moreover, If u understand it is also easy to memorize the block and time.

If everything is organize.

  • How does the organization of the periodic table help us to understand the elements?

The  organization of the periodic table help us to understand the elements because the periodic table organize in horizontal and verticle . In every lines of horizontal from left to right it respercent of  valence shell. And verticle lines is resprecent the number of protons from left to right, least protons is onthe left and  the highest protons is on the right.

  • How does the structure of the atom affect the properties and behavior?

The structure of the atom affects its poperties in two ways, Phsical and chemical. It affects what it will react and bond with. If it is made up with a certain number of electrons it can only bond with a elements tom make it to a full outer shells. It can also change the elements mass(atomic mass) because if it fill full outer shells then  the number of proton and neutrons change the atomic mass changes of atoms. Inaddition, Atomic structure changes the way the element acts in two ways as I already mention. In phicical such as boiling point and melting point ect and Chemical is the type of bonding depends on the atoms—there are three ways of bonding Ions, covalent and metallic. For example, water is two hydrogens and one oxygen bonded covalently, and a macroscopic sample of water is (at room temperature and atmospheric pressure) a liquid with a high surface tension and specific heat that when frozen is less dense than liquid water. Which is why ice floats. Which is why we have an arctic peninsula for polar bears and seals to live on.

1)  How does what you learned connect to the real world?

we guess and learn how to find the patterns from the easy to hard and adapt it with periotic table, Also, this the periotic table help us to be able to notice new things and think more about the patterns.

2)  How did you develop or grow as a student through this unit?

I have learned more information about the periotic able and I can ble to tell which line respersent what for the peritoc table and knowing that what does it prespersent from left to right in many different properties. For example, horizontal from left to right it respercent of  valence shell. And verticle lines is resprecent the number of protons and some properties is conductivity and etc.

3)  As you look at the work you have completed throughout this unit, what are you strengths?

I think my strengths are leaning and asking question to make sure that I understand and wrote it in my own words to help me remember. I think my best work is Poster oxygen.

4)  As you look at the work you have completed throughout this unit, what do you think you could improve?

Think that I should improve is to remember more information about each family and try to calculate correctly with atoms. Also, I will try to read more before test

5) Evidence (Movies, Projects, Pictures, Assignments, etc)
