Success is my destiny.
Unit 3 :Elements and Compounds Mixture
Essential Questions
1 Why do we classify things?
Chemistry is the study of physical matter, which is classified in many different ways, such as state of matter (gas, liquid or solid), chemical form (element, mixture or compound), chemical structure (atoms or molecules, etc.) and so on.We classify thing into groups because it help us to organized information about the organism and able to compare different things. Also, make it easier for Scientists to classify living things to make communication science easier by having only one name in each group For example, Kingdom, phylum, class, order, etc.
2 Why is separating mixture important?
Mixture are all around us, a lot of time the mixture is fine for this world like orange juice it is mixing with water, sugar, vitamin C and this is perfectly combination. However, sometime we need to separating the mixture to make this world better for example protein, calcium and etc are really important to our bodies. For example, milk is a mixture of water, sugar, fat, protein, vitamins, calcium, and more. All the kids drink milk to grow. but fat, while good for growing children, can be unhealthy for adults. To make a healthier milk for adults, we separate most of the fat from the milk, creating low-fat or “skim” milk.
c) Where do we see the mixtures, elements, and compounds and solutions in everyday life?
Mixture, elements and compounds are all around us. Many of the substances that we use everyday were actually once part of a mixture(elements). Some people separated the substance from the mixture so, we could use it and know what is the real element. It turns out that many compounds and elements aren't found in nature in their pure form, but are found as parts of mixtures because people made it up and mixed it tom ake it more useful. For example, Mixture that we see in dailyl life is orange juice. Which is mixing with water, sugar, vitamin C and this is perfectly combination. Element that is pure and we see it everyday is diamon. Last example, compound element is water. Water is made up of the elements hydrogenand oxygen.
2. How does what you learned connect to the real world?
What I learned connect tothe real world because I learned how the elements are mix together and it becomes a elements compound. For exampl, Water is made up of the elements hydrogenand oxygen. Also, all the element and compunds and mixture are all around us. They can be food, gas, elements and matter.
3. How did you develop or grow as a student through this unit?
I grow as a student in this unit by knowing more about the each of mixture, elements, componds and solutions. For example, what did it do or what is it made of. Knowing that water is componds and orange juice is mixture and etc.
4. As you look at the work you have completed throughout this unit, what are you strengths?
I think my strenfths are knowing how to separateing mixture and knowing that allthe elements are pure substances that able to make it to compounds when it mix together.
5. As you at the work you have completed throughout this unit, what do you think could improve?
The think that I think I should improve is to know the name of the ways that to use for the mixture saparateing and to able to know that many differnst mixture can saparateing.
6. Evidence(images, Essays, Reports, Posters, etc)- Reports
